RADIUS Integration

Set up RADIUS authentication for MikroTik hotspot and PPPoE networks.

Overview

LALABill provides RADIUS services for MikroTik networks. Configure your MikroTik to authenticate hotspot and PPPoE users through LALABill for centralized subscriber management.

What problem does it solve?

Without RADIUS, subscriber management is done locally on each router. This does not scale for multi-router networks and makes centralized billing impossible.

How it works

MikroTik sends authentication requests to LALABill RADIUS over the WireGuard tunnel. LALABill checks the subscriber's service status and returns accept (with rate-limit attributes) or reject. Accounting messages track session duration and data usage.

Requirements

  • MikroTik router connected via WireGuard
  • RADIUS client configured on MikroTik

Step-by-step setup

  1. Note RADIUS details

Find the RADIUS server IP, ports, and shared secret in your LALABill settings.

  2. Add RADIUS client on MikroTik

In MikroTik, go to RADIUS and add a new client with LALABill's details.

  3. Enable on services

Enable RADIUS authentication on your hotspot or PPPoE server in MikroTik.

  4. Test authentication

Try connecting a test user to verify RADIUS authentication works.

Benefits

Centralized auth

One authentication system for all routers in your network.

Usage accounting

Session data collected automatically for billing and reporting.

Dynamic profiles

Speed limits applied automatically based on subscriber package.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. RADIUS communication flows through the WireGuard VPN tunnel, which provides end-to-end encryption.
